Supporting Someone Living With Dementia at Home
Maxi-Mize Health Solution Limited22 August 20266 min read

Familiar surroundings, gentle routine and unhurried time can make a real difference at home.
Home is often the best place for someone living with dementia. Familiar rooms, familiar objects and a familiar routine can all provide reassurance.
Keep routines steady Doing things in a similar order at a similar time each day can reduce confusion and anxiety.
Make the environment easier Good lighting, clear walkways, familiar photographs and simple labelling can all help someone feel more confident at home.
Allow time Rushing rarely helps. Giving someone time to answer, choose or take part in a task supports both dignity and independence.
Support for families Caring for someone with dementia can be tiring. Planned support, whether regular visits, longer visits or overnight care, can protect family relationships as well as the person being supported.
